Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga has been accused of having rungus and other weapons in his possession.
He has however been freed after posting a $100,000 cash bond.
For his pre-trial hearing on Monday, the former Mungiki leader showed up at the Madaraka Law Courts.
He now asserts that he is aware that the cops, who were wearing masks, were responsible for his kidnapping.
Njenga has denounced his purported kidnapping, stating that the government was chosen to defend its people, not to attack and imprison them.
He also told the media that his purported kidnapping occurred as a result of his participation in Mount Kenya politics.
