Following a statewide power outage that began on Friday night, Kenya Power has begun restoring power in some areas of the nation.

Kenya Power announced that the power supply at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport had been restored in a statement on Saturday morning.

On Saturday morning, power was also restored in parts of the Nairobi Metropolitan considered essential to the functioning of the nation.

The utility company also acknowledged that it had hours after the system breakdown taken place to restore power to the Mt. Kenya area.

According to Kenya Power, efforts are being made to restore electricity to all of the county's impacted areas.

According to Kenya Power, a problem at one of its manufacturing units was to blame for the nationwide power outage.

The precise station that witnessed the problem and its precise source, however, were still unknown.

"We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused and we thank them for all their patience," reads the statement.

Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, the Mt. Kenya regions, and Nairobi City were the areas most heavily impacted by the statewide power outage.

Further delays in the provision of services were caused by several institutions' backup generators experiencing system breakdown. Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was among those impacted.
