At the Sagana State Lodge, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru astonished the audience by recounting a near-death experience she experienced.

The well-known politician detailed what had transpired when the pilot alerted them of unexpected turbulence mid-flight on a flight from the United States back to Kenya.

"The pilot then asked the cabin crew to take their seats. It felt like the plane hit something and I shouted to Jesus to send his angels to take us home safely," she started.

Waiguru said that the turbulence kept becoming worse, making her fear for her safety, yet she never gave any specifics about the time, date, or purpose of her journey.

She then slipped on her prayer boots and began fervently asking God for a safe journey home.

"A lady who was seated next to me intervened and stated that Jesus should come himself. I then knew that I was not the only person who was scared," she went on.

Waiguru shared this good news with her new companion and expressed her thanks to God that things improved so that their jet could land safely.

"I got to ask the lady why she cancelled my prayer for the angels to be sent and she explained that the angels would have been sent to take us somewhere else (heaven)," she said.

The governor mentioned how the incident had given her a fear of flying.

According to www.weather.gov; Turbulence is one of the most unpredictable of all the weather phenomena that are of significance to pilots. Turbulence is an irregular motion of the air resulting from eddies and vertical currents. It may be as insignificant as a few annoying bumps or severe enough to momentarily throw an airplane out of control or to cause structural damage. Turbulence is associated with fronts, wind shear, thunderstorms, etc.
