Poll: 59% of Kenyans doubt Finance Act will positively impact economy

According to a survey by Infotrak, the majority of Kenyans now doubt that the Finance Act 2023 will have a good influence on the economy.

In the survey, which was made public on Monday, 22% of Kenyans predicted that the Finance Act will boost the country's economy, while 59% had their doubts.

However, 15% of Kenyans were unsure whether the Bill will have a beneficial effect because 3% were unsure.

According to the survey, 87% are aware of the Bill.

The Finance Act 2023, which was ratified by the National Assembly and signed into law by President William Ruto, is opposed by 73% of voters.

The majority of those who oppose the Finance Act, they added, embrace civil disobedience as a way to express contentment.

According to Infotrak, 61% of respondents support civil disobedience, while 49% plan to sue.

Interviews were performed using computer-assisted telephone interviews for the survey between July 3 and July 8, 2023.

In 47 counties, there were 2,400 responders.

The survey had a 94% response rate, and the margin of error was +/- 2.1.
