Husband to Slain Kilifi Chief Officer opens up in emotional tribute

Maxwell Mmera, husband to the slain Kilifi County Chief Officer for Fisheries and Blue Economy Rahab Karisa has penned an emotional tribute to mourn his wife.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Maxwell Mmera alias 'Mmera Senior’ said they had plans and great projects to achieve.

"You didn't deserve it, you that cannot hurt a fly, you didn't. And your only mistake was asking a house girl who has stolen from you while you were away and mentioning to her that the following day you'd take her to the police," he said.

He revealed that Saturday, July 22, they could have happily celebrated her for turning a year older.

"My childhood girlfriend, my friend, my wife, my mum and the owner of my home - I am gonna mourn you properly later, for now, allow me to handle it, as you've always said, "Love you'll handle it, just as always".

Rahab was allegedly stabbed to death by her house help in Mnarani, Kilifi county on Thursday morning.

She returned to the country on Wednesday from a work trip in Italy.

Mmera, in his post, said he regretted allowing Karisa to take a career move away from him.

“7 months down the line I am coming back to a lifeless, cold and dead you babe. We had plans of your comeback, great projects to achieve and dreams of the future, but now what can I say except cry!!!”The young family had two sons under five years old.

According to a private guard, the house help escaped before officers from a private firm arrived for their morning duties.

Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung'aro eulogised Rahab as an industrious and hardworking officer.

He called on the police to investigate the matter expeditiously and bring the culprit to book.
