Duncan Murage the man who was driving the matatu that Raila Odinga boarded to town on Monday has said that the politician behaved just like any other passenger.

The matatu driver told KTN News that the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader stopped the matatu to board when it was carrying passengers between Ngong town and the Nairobi CBD, which is a part of his regular routine.

“Alisimamisha tu gari sisi tulimshtukia tu, akaingia tu kama mtu wa kawaida tukambeba. Vile sisi huwa tunakuja tukabeba watu, tukaenda hadi GPO akashuka,” Murage narrated.

According to him, there was a lot of commotion and noise as onlookers came to see what was going on after the ODM leader boarded the vehicle.

He claims that when Raila conversed with other passengers in the back, he proceeded to operate the bus to the town as he normally does.

“Ata sikupata chance ya kuongea na yeye. Aliingia tu huko nyuma kama mtu wa kawaida. Sikuogopa juu mimi ni mtu wa kawaida tu.  Vile sisi hubeba watu tu, niliendesha gari tu hivyo,” he said.

Murage acknowledged that it was a tremendous surprise to see one of Kenya's top politicians board his bus to town and that it filled him with such joy.

The former presidential contender paid his bus payment exactly like other regular riders, he added.

“Kila mtu alijisort kwa gari. Alijilipia,” Murage said.

“Wanasema Baba alitujenga lakini hakuna kitu kama hiyo. Alibebwa tu kama mtu wa kawaida. Gari imepata tu hype,” he said.

Despite the positive attention his matatu received when Raila boarded it for work, Murage claimed that some of the people close to him have been pestering him with phone calls in an effort to benefit from the gifts they believe the ODM leader had given him on Monday.

Murage declared that, if given the opportunity, he would gladly accept and meticulously perform the task of chauffeuring a prominent politician.
