President Ruto, Gachugua & other officials set for pay rise in SRC review

State officers in top government positions are set to get salary increments following a review by the Salary and Remuneration Commission.

In the document seen by The Star, President William Ruto's salary is set to increase from the current Sh1,443,750 to Sh1,546,875.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's salary will increase from the current Sh1,227,188 to Sh1,367,438.

Other State Officers such as the Attorney General, the head of the Public Service, Cabinet Secretaries and the Secretary to the Cabinet will receive a 7 per cent salary increment. 

This will see them earn Sh990,000 up from the current Sh924,000. 

Principal Secretaries, the Inspector-General and the Director General of the National Intelligence Service will also get an increment of Sh54,656 on top of their current Sh765,188. 

Other top officials in the Police Service set to benefit are the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, and The Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations who will receive a Sh62,983 pay rise.  

The increments slated to occur in two phases will see the state officers get a cumulative salary increment of 14% over a 2-year period. 

If approved, the new increments are set to take effect from July 1.
