Ciru Muriuki, a former BBC journalist, stunned her 153 thousand Instagram followers with her remarkable weight loss journey.
The writer, who also calls herself the millennial mentor, opened up about the effects her weight difficulties had on her physical and mental health by posting before and after comparison images of herself on her Facebook.
"Hey! Look at me. This wasn’t me in December. Swipe to see who I was 6 months ago. Pretty big change, right?" started off Ciru as she showed off the incredible amount of weight she has lost.
Speaking about her experience, Ciru said she felt trapped by her weight and decided in February to take control of her health.
She sought the assistance of Nairobi Bariatric, a recognized weight loss facility, to assist her in staying in control.
"When that pic of me was taken last Dec, I was SHOOK. I could not understand how I had gotten to that size.
Then on top of that, my health had begun to suffer. My joints hurt, and I could not go up a flight of stairs without huffing and puffing. Let’s not even talk about my mental health.
My confidence was in the toilet and I hated looking in the mirror," Ciru lamented.
The well-known journalist insisted that a combination of food adjustments and exercise regimens allowed her to reach her target in less than six months.
She also recognized her friend Maureen Waititu, a digital content designer who enjoys working out, for her support and encouragement throughout the process.
"So in February, I decided enough was enough. I started working with @nairobibariatric and the aim was to get back to a healthy weight.
They have supported me so much during this health journey, and we will have a LIVE this week to talk about what I got done and how it has been.
Special shout out to @maureenwaititu who has been so sweet and encouraging! Are you struggling with your weight? How do you feel about your weight right now? Let’s talk in the comments ❤️❤️" The last of her lengthy post read.
