Music Copyright Society of Kenya CEO Ezekiel Mutua has criticised a song by Fathermoh and Ssaru 'Kaskie Vibaya Huko Kwenu'.

Speaking to YouTuber Eve Mungai, Mutua lamented that the song served to erode the morality of the younger generation listening to it.

"The song this girl who is singing to the ex- boyfriend and she says now I'm dating your father and nikona pesa na ni ya babako nenda ukasikie vibaya huko. I'm like alright what are you telling my daughter? Really," he said.

He said as the MCSK CEO, one of his goals was to cultivate positive social values in the youth through music.

The Society is also committed to ensure that music is used to promote peace and hope across the country and the world.

Mutua had met with the International Mziki Gospel Festival on Friday.

He emphasized need for artists to promote morality saying they should understand that theirs was a calling.

Mutua however said he was not trying to regulate their content.

"Far from it. I'm just calling on these amazing artists to up their game because we are competing with the world. Let it be music that is intentionally promoting hope, inspiration positions social values and unites people," he said.

"Let it not be a clamor for likes, shares and views."

Mutua clarified the remarks that the Gospel artists have frustrated him the most since he joined the Society.

He said the artists were pessimists which led to his frustration.

"It was not really an attack. I was just saying guys why aren't you believing we can do this. We have to believe in ourselves. Those who claim to know the name of the Lord and to be the light should be at the forefront," he said.

Mutua explained that top gospel musicians tend to decline his calls for meetings and AGMs.

This, he said, led to challenges in leadership.

"The challenge I was giving was get involved, participate... Ezekiel Mutua will not do it alone. I need your support. Don't be negative. We've got to work together. That is the message I was sending," he added.
