Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has fulfilled his promise of employing former boxer Conjestina  Achieng after being discharged from Rehab.

On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, Sonko announced that he had employed Conje as the gym instructor and head security at Salama Bling Beach Resort, Kanamai.

The former County Boss also mentioned that Conje will be working at the facility together with her son sister, and coach.

“Conje will be the gym instructor and head security at Salama Bling Beach Resort, Kanamai. Together with her sister, coach, and son, we inspected the hotel where she'll be working and they all agreed. She will now be making a living inorder to support her family, lakini tumeelewana nawao kwamba Siaya hatarudi tena atakuwa anaenda kusalimie under supervision na kurudi,” Mike Sonko said.

Initially, on Sonko has promised to employ Conje as the head of Security at Club Volume (Owned by Sonko) but changed his mind last minute.

“My initial plan for Conje after healing was to employ her as the Head of security operations at the international Club Volume but changed my mind after thinking through what she has gone through before on drug and substance abuse. I don't want her around any environment associated with drugs.

“As Conje embarks on this new chapter of her life, she carries with her the hopes and dreams of young upcoming boxers. Her story serves as a reminder that everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves, regardless of their past or present circumstances,” Sonko said.

Over the weekend, Sonko organized a friendly boxing match between Conje and Fatuma Zarika at a time the boxer was being discharged from Rehab.

“Earlier today (Sunday), I was honoured to attend a friendly boxing match I organised in conjunction with Mombasa Eomen rehab between two of the best female boxers Kenya has ever produced, Conjestina Achieng and Fatuma Zarika,” he said in a statement.

At the same time, Carol Radull confirmed that Conjestina has officially launched her own boxing tournament.

"Congestina and Zarika held a display game today during the inaugural Congestina Achieng Boxing Tournament.

"Congestina was discharged today from the centre where she has been undergoing rehabilitation at @mike.sonko s expense. Sonko has organised a job for her in Mombasa.Conge my sister; you are such a fighter. I wish you well and I know all Kenyans do too. 🙏🏽," Radull wrote.
