Africa's fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, finished second in the Wanda Diamond League meeting in the French capital (Paris) on Friday night.

Omanyala lost the 100M race narrowly to Noah Lyles who won with 9.97 seconds beating Omanyala  by 0.01 seconds. He clocked 9.98 seconds.

At first, Omanyala had dominated the race before Lyles accelerated within the last 30M to win the race.

Botswana sensation and World U-20 Champion Letsile Tebogo finished third with a time of 10.05 seconds.

This was Omanyala's third race at the Diamond League this year after finishing third in Rabat and second in last week's Florence Diamond League.

“This is to say thank you for the love and support. May God bless the work of our hands always,” Omanyala wrote after the race.

Before the Friday, race Omanyla had written a statement that says;

 “It's been a great experience in the diamond league circuit and of course the season so far. One last race before we take a 7-week break from international racing to prepare for the world championships coming in August in Budapest. See you Paris on 9th June 💎💎💎,”.

On May 13th, Ferdinand Omanyala won the 2023 Absa Kip Keino Classic Gold Tour at Kasarani Stadium after clocking 9:84 seconds.

At the same time, Faith Kipyegon provided the standout moments at a highly memorable Wanda Diamond League meeting in the French capital on Friday night.

A week after breaking the 1500m world record in Florence, Kipyegon etched her name into the record books for 5000m, winning in 14:05.20.

Ahead of the race, the world and Olympic champion hadn’t made too much noise about a possible world record attempt in 5000m. It was, after all, just her third-ever race at the distance, and her first 5000m outing in eight years.
