Ezekiel Odero recounts tough time in jail after release

Pastor Ezekiel Odero secured his release Thursday, May 4th. A Shanzu court released Pastor Ezekiel Odero on a Sh3 million bond and one surety of a similar amount or alternatively pay Ksh 1.5M cash bail.

Judge Joe Omido said that the bond terms shall remain in force until the Pastor is formally charged. His dedicated followers were outside waiting to receive him with open arms and joyfully sang.

Later they proceeded to New Life Mavueni, his expansive property in Kilifi. He opened up about forgiveness and moving on with his church activities.

"Bwana asifiwe, watu wa nuyumbani asifiwe, nyinyi ni wa ajabu kama siafu. Usihesabie mtu makosa. Sisi New Life, kila mmoja wasmaeheh ropho safi. Na kama ni mwanamke, mumewe asipitie haya na kama ni mwanaume, mkewe asiitie haya , watoto wake wabarikiwe."

IG Koome was also instructed to lift the ban on his church. Ezekiel;

"Kwa yote yalitendeka, nataka nyinyi watu wa Mavueni muwe na upendo number moja, sababu lili kanisa liko hapa, lakini ni la mataifa. Kwa hivyo mtu yeyote amefanya kitu hupendi naomba uinue mikono na useme nimemsamehe . Mjue kati ya yote, nyinyi ndio mungu amemupa neema mlie machozi, mnyeshewe inje, mkae bila kanisa, tumewasemehe."

He has warned against speaking about the probe into his church activities.

He reminded the congregation that they are not allowed to speak about matters before the court, "kwa hivo hatutaongea, kanisa limefunguliwa, jumapili tunaanza ibada rasmi".

He also instructed that they return to saving souls, and baptising new followers. He has instructed followers to show up in numbers to clean the Church environs on Friday and Saturday, May 6 ahead of the Sunday sermon.

He also praised Pastor Pius Muiri who stood by him in hard times. "May God bless the Church, lakini ukumbuke kuna watu wamekaa nasii kwa maombi, Muslims too, God Bless them."

His closing statement, "usifikirie ulipitia mabaya, mungu aliwapa neema".

He added that he needs to go rest because "Haka kapastor kenyu hakakulala. Na huyu mama naye hakulala. Hatujawahi chukia mtu, hatujawahi ongea juu ya mtu na tuwe na roho ya kupenda."
