Sophia Wanuna quietly resigns from KTN after 14 years

She was the deputy editor Broadcast division at KTN and is yet to make public her departure from Standard Group.

Media personality Sophia Wanuna quietly parted ways with Mombasa Road-based media house Standard Group after 14 years.

Wanuna who was the deputy editor Broadcast division at KTN is yet to make public her departure from Standard Group.

Credible reports reaching our Entertainment desk detail that Wanuna tendered her resignation to the Standard Group management, citing personal reasons.   

In July 2021 Sophia Wanuna was appointed as the new Broadcast Content Editor in an acting capacity, replacing Peter Opondo who had been fired.

In an internal Memo authored by the then Editor in Chief Ochieng Rapuro, Wanuna’s appointment took effect on July 15, 2021.

“Last Friday, Our Editor Broadcasting Peter Opondo left the company to pursue other interests.   

“I have therefore appointed Ms. Sophia Wanuna to take charge of this segment of our operations until further notice.

"The editorial staff is hereby notified to collaborate with Ms. Wanuna for purposes of keeping our broadcast operations and our promise to deliver quality, in-depth and timely content to the consumer on course. Ms. Wanuna takes charge beginning July 15, 2021” read the internal Memo in 2021.

Her exit from KTN come days after her colleague Sharon Momanyi also left KTN after 10 years. Momanyi joined KTN in 2013 as an intern.
