Popular investigative journalist John Allan Namu has opened up on how he was able to get a screen test on KTN.

In a video seen by Classic105, the media veteran confesses that he had to beg relentlessly so that the station could give him a screen test as a potential anchor.

“The year was 2006. I had just turned 23 and was ending my internship at KTN which began the year before. After lots of begging, I got a chance to do a screen test to see if I could work as a news anchor."

He credited the late Catherine Kasavuli for being a mentor to him when he was trying to grow in the field.

The person you hear laughing in the background is the late great Catherine Kasavuli (RIP). She would train my colleagues and I before we were allowed to go on air,” he explained.

“The shirt I wore was a birthday gift from my sister Mukami Namu. I wore it that day as an affirmation of what I wanted to do,” he noted.

The father of 4 went on to thank God for the far he has come.

“It is incredible that God has kept me in the same profession all these years, but blessed me so richly all through. I'm grateful for every step that led me to that screen test, and every step forward since,” he narrated.

Namu became famous for his investigative series, Jicho Pevu/Inside Story alongside Mohamed Ali, one of Kenya's most popular shows ever.
