Jimmy Gathu's heart-rending reason for never visiting Catherine Kasavuli at the hospital

Media veteran Jimmy Gathu has revealed why he never visited the late Catherine Kasavuli in the hospital.

Gathu says he did not want to remember her as skinny and sickly.

Speaking during a requiem mass in memory of the celebrated news anchor held at the Friends' International Centre along Ngong road, he shared;

"Martin, I am sorry I couldn't come to visit her in the hospital. I did not want to remember her that way. But Know I am here for you. All I can give is my friendship."

To Catherine he emotionally eulogized,

"Thank you for teaching me the importance of harnessing and honing my talent. I do not know why she chose to mentor me yet I was a nobody."

Her death was confirmed by KBC acting Md Samuel Maina. She passed away at KNH where she was receiving treatment.

"It is true. She passed on yesterday night. It is related to the cancer ailment that she's been bravely fighting in the recent past," he told the Nation.

Catherine had been battling cervical cancer.

Before her demise, she had thanked people who came out to support her. Through her socials she penned;

"It hasn't been an easy week for me, I've had one of the most tiresome and extremely painful weeks. But God's faithfulness is everything.

I'm learning that you can't beat this monster if you let it control how you feel and your hope to see a better tomorrow; your strength and hope in the Lord are what will keep you stronger. 

There's no otherwise...To everyone that's visited me, prayed with me, and contributed towards my medical bill, I want to say thank you so much, and may God meet with the desires of your heart ."

Adding;

"To all my online community that's always sending messages of hope and love - I love you all.

Kasavuli will be laid to rest at Zululu village in Vihiga county on January 14th, 2023.

She has left behind a son, siblings, and a mum who will fondly miss her.

Kasavuli will be greatly missed.

May she rest in peace.
