Repentant Ngunjiri: I would chose Ruto over anybody

The politician was among the top criticisers of Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

Ngunjiri Wambugu, the former Nyeri Town Mp has changed tune over his stand on President William Ruto.

Speaking on Friday, he said If called to choose between supporting  Ruto or anyone else, the current President would be his choice.

"I told a friend of mine that If I am called upon to choose between William Ruto and anyone else over the next five years, I’ll be with Ruto," he shared on his Facebook account.

The Mt.Kenya politician went further and stated that together with his colleagues, they fought Ruto for the last five years and all he could do was offer him support.

"We fought this man too hard for five years and he beat us … It is the least I can do," Ngunjiri said.

He failed to retain his seat in the August polls and lost to United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate, Duncan Mathenge.

Ngunjiri managed to attain 41,111 votes to clinch the seat from rival Jubilee Party candidate Wambugu who garnered 11,808 votes.  

A few weeks before the polls, Ngunjiri shared his campaign poster which included Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga's portrait.

 The politician was among the top critizers of  Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

After Ruto was worn in September, Ngunjiri hit out at him urging him to focus on running the country and stop blaming the former administration.
