Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi, a close associate of president William Ruto and who got his first job politically from retired president Uhuru Kenyatta has spoken about what happened between him and Kenyatta that led to a sharp disagreement with him politically.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Citizen TV, Itumbi said that Kenyatta did not want him to promote Ruto as his successor and that was the beginning of their enmity.
Itumbi said that due to his honesty, he refused to respond to Kenyatta's request asking him not to promote Ruto in what he said was "a promise that we all made that after your term is over we will support Ruto."
Itumbi said that the Kenya Kwanza wing led by Ruto was not getting a lot of attention from the media, which prompted him to start online campaigns through what he called Hasola's intelligence unit, HNIB.
Through HNIB, Itumbi scared many people who were leaning on the faction led by Kenyatta and Odinga who were enemies of Ruto in the campaign leading up to the August 9 election.
He was fooling many with their secret conversations that consumed Kenyatta's head who was unable to understand how Itumbi and his team were getting information about what Kenyatta and his people were talking about behind the scenes.
After the end of the election and President Ruto appointing people in various positions, Itumbi's position still remains in limbo because no one knows what he is doing in Ruto's government despite being one of the people who made his campaigns successful.
Itumbi spoke about that and said that he still enjoys the work he is doing for Ruto and called it "a job of coming here and going there which currently does not have a fixed salary but is voluntary."
Regarding the kidnapping allegations against him, Itumbi said that they were police officers who were sent to try to silence him but he said that he has forgiven them from the beginning to the end.
