He said the fate of the commissioners will be determined by a tribunal

Head of State William Ruto has told off Azimio leader Raila Odinga after he defended the four suspended IEBC commissioners.

In a statement on Saturday, Ruto said that the fate of the commissioners will be determined by a tribunal.

"The coup to overturn the people's will using rogue commissioners, you are now threatening us with maandamano. Their guilt or innocence will be determined by the tribunal. Rule of law it is," Ruto said.

The President further accused Raila of being delusional, saying that he tried to overturn the will of the people using the four commissioners.

"Even with the system, deep state you lost the election. Stop deluding yourself and lying," he said.

In what seems to be a war of words between the two leaders, Raila released a video of Ruto protesting election results and captioned it: "Do not act like you have forgotten, when the shoe was firmly on the other foot," he said.

Raila has been protesting Ruto's move to Suspend the four who differed with IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati over the August polls results. He condemned the suspension of four commissioners terming the move as political.

The four; Vice Chairperson Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Wanderi and Irine Masit were suspended on Friday.

However, commissioner Nyang'aya resigned immediately after the gazette notice was released, saying his decision was in the best interest of the country.

Ruto has now appointed High Court Judge Aggrey Muchelule to chair a tribunal that will investigate the embattled IEBC Commissioners.

Among the appointed are Carolyne Kamende Daudi, Linda Gakii Kiome, Mathew Njaramba Nyabena, Col. (Rtd.) Saeed Khamis Saeed as members of the tribunal.

Kibet Kirui Emmanuel, Irene Tunta Nchoe have been appointed joint secretaries.

The tribunal's lead counsel will be Peter Munge Murage who will be assisted by Zamzam Abdi Abib.

Raila said December 7 will mark the start of a series of consultations on the state of the nation following the ouster of the commissioners.

"We want to ask Kenyans if they are happy with the way things are happening," he stated.

The Azimio leader said the first rally will be held at Kamkunji Grounds in Nairobi and the second will be held at the same venue on December 12.

This is the day Ruto is expected to lead the country in the Mashujaa Day celebrations.
