Love her or hate her, Kylie Jenner is one of the most influential stars when it comes to beauty trends — and according to her surgeon, she’s also ‘singlehandedly’ changed the way young woman approach surgery to enhance their beauty.
The 20-year-old star covers the current digital issue of WWD, in which she talks about her enormous beauty empire (Kylie Cosmetics has done $420 million in retail sales in 18 months).
And her cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Simon Ourian chimes in too, crediting the reality star with inspiring more than just lipstick looks — in fact, he says, Kylie alone has inspired other young women to get work done.
Kylie first shocked fans back in 2014 when she started getting lip injections. At first, she refused to admit it to the public, but has since become more open about discussing it.
‘When she first talked about her minimal cosmetic procedures I saw a new trend of younger women who suddenly felt empowered to unapologetically want to look more beautiful,’ Dr. Ourian told WWD.
‘It’s like Kylie singlehandedly gave a whole generation the ticket to a more enhanced version of themselves.’
Dr. Ourian also got a boost from Kylie’s influence. When she started speaking out about her procedures, she mentioned going to a different doctor for her first injections — but that doctor made her lips too big.
