Detectives have launched investigations to establish the whereabouts of Chief Inspector Mathenge Mithamo, who was last seen on Saturday night, November 3.
The family reported to his senior that the officer could not be reached and was neither at his place of work nor his residence in Eastleigh Estate.
The officer’s official police radio and one of his mobile phones was, however, found in his house while one of his phones has gone unanswered since.
Kileleshwa police officer in charge of Crime, Inspector Martha Wanjiku, was one of the colleagues who were summoned to the Divisional headquarters as detectives probed the matter.
The missing officer was recently transferred from Eastleigh police post to Kileleshwa as the OCS. A brief to the Police Headquarters Vigilance by the Kileleshwa deputy OCS, however, stated that the officer had absented himself from duty without leave.
