‘You do not really need to be married,’ Janet Mbugua tells Betty Kyallo

Janet Mbugua and Edward Ndichu got married on 30 May 2015. The two powerhouses had what seemed to be a great marriage until this year when rumours swirled that all was not well.

Those rumours went into overdrive in June when Janet unfollowed her husband on social media. Janet also changed her bio on her Instagram page, editing out wife and retaining just “mum of two”.

Her answer was very cryptic saying, ‘It has been a few years…’ then posing contemplatively. She added,

‘I always tell those who keep on saying, “Oh my God, I can’t wait to start a family…” I say two things, take your time, and make sure that you are ready, because you could be good at being in love, but you do not really need to be married.’

She also explained that juggling her demanding career, motherhood and being a wife had it’s challenges. ‘Trying to balance family, work and expectations is really hard…I love my family, I love where I am. and, I know, the moment you say it is not easy, I can predict what the blog posts would say… but, it is fine, they would talk about it.’
