Early this month, we learnt that certain ‘immoral’ songs had been banned in Tanzania. Among those affected was Diamond Platnumz, whose songs ‘Waka’ and ‘Hallelujia’ cannot be played.

The bongo singer was in classic 105 studio’s where he talked about the move to ban his songs and its impact. It’s too harsh a punishment to artistes and doesn’t empower us, was Diamonds declaration when asked how the ban on his music among other artistes is affecting his trade.

He began by disclosing that he wasn’t informed through the right channels.

Kuna age limit. Lakini wakasema ..sijui ni kwa nini wa

meziban kabisa, kwasababu sikuletewa barua. na kisheria inataikikana walete barua.

How has he been affected so far since the letter banning the songs was made public on February 28th?

Those are the songs inzofanya Tanzania wazungumziwe.

The Tanzanian Government banned 13 songs, citing immorality as reason for the move.

Among those affected was Diamond Platnumz, whose two new songs with Rick Ross and Morgan Heritage were blacklisted.

He revealed to Maina Kageni, that ‘Waka’ and Hallelujia’ are his best selling songs, and this move may result in Tanzanian music being unattractive to international fans.

He said, ‘ There are more immoral songs being played, but they haven’t been banned. unafanya nyimbo, unaingiza maadili mbili katika hiyo nyimbo. unaweka maadili yako ya kitanzania na yeye ya Kiamerica. kwa maadili yao ilivyo, unaweza

What does he think is the way forward to resolve this problem?
