Africans are known to migrate abroad to look for greener pastures. Well some of these celebrities found it and have perfected their art which has gained them worldwide recognition and has had them even winning Academy awards.

These celebrities include.


1. Idris Elba


Idrissa Akuna Elba, OBE, is a British actor, producer, musician and DJ. His father Winston was born in Sierra Leone and his mother Eve was from Ghana. They wed in Sierra Leone and later moved to England.

He is known for playing a drug trafficker Stringer Bell on the HBO series The Wire, DCI John Luther on the BBC One series Luther and Nelson Mandela in the biographical film.

2. Trevor Noah


He is a South African comedian, writer, producer, political commentator, actor, and television host. He is known for hosting The Daily Show, an American satirical news program on Comedy Central.


3. Charlize Theron



She is a South African and American actress and film producer. She is the recipient of several accolades, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and the Silver Bear for Best Actress.


4. Wale


Karim Kharbouch (Olubowale Victor Akintimehi), better known by his stage name Wale is an American recording artist, record producer and actor.

5. French Montana

Karim Kharbouch better known by his stage name French Montana, is an American hip hop recording artist. The ‘unforgettable’ hit maker was born in Morocco. He moved to the United States with his family when he was 13.


6. Uzo Aduba



Uzoamaka Nwanneka “Uzo” Aduba; is a Nigerian-American actress. She is known for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the Netflix original series Orange Is the New Black, for which she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series in 2014, an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2015, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series in 2014 and 2015.

7. Rotimi


Olurotimi Akinosho, known professionally as Rotimi, is a Nigerian-American actor, singer, and model. He is known for his role as Darius Morrison on the Starz series Boss, and currently stars as Andre Coleman on Power.
