Exclusive: ‘I was in shock after visiting a VCT’, Circuite narrates his journey to salvation (video)

It is said that it is never too late to find salvation. This appears to be the case for rapper Circuite, who is most notable for releasing one of the ‘dirtiest’ songs in Kenya’s history ‘Juala’ and ‘Manyake’.

Together with his partner in crime Joel, the duo took the industry by storm with its lewd music content. And while “Juala” somewhat advocated for the use of protection, it ruffled a lot of feathers which partly contributed to the rappers’ downfall.

But that was over a decade ago. Now, Circuit has since turned over a new life and is now leading like Jesus himself. We can now undoubtedly call him, fisher of men.

He is now serving the Kingdom.

Well, in an interview, he took us through what made him turn his ways.

He no longer does the nasty songs but turned to gospel songs and is now a preacher too.
Well he said that the one incidence that made him turn was a small child.
“You know, we were so many when we started doing music. Then there is a song Flexx feauring Jua Kali released called ‘Nyundo’, I one day went to the shop, I met a young boy like about five years and they were arguing over a sweet with a house girl. Then the boy started singing that song innocently. I felt so guilty of that, bearing in mind that I had done Manyake which was similar to ‘Nyundo’. Nikajiuliza, hawa watoi tuna wafundisha nini.”
You know I also had controversy’s with my songs, Pesa ilikua mitandao ilikua and of course I was making moves. Pesa ilikua and I was travelling so much but I after that, I had zero peace, no appetite for everything, my marriage was breaking because my wife wanted to leave me. Within me I felt empty.
Because of the lifestyle of musicians, my wife gave me a warning that I needed to change my ways or she would bounce. I did not care ‘akitaka kuenda anaeza enda. My kids were young, I asked myself, where will I take these totos of mine, hawa watoi wataenda wapi? Si itakua like hawa watoi watakua wamekam na divorce and in our family there was no history of divorce.
He thought about it and begged her to stay.
Nikambembeleza and she decided to stay but gave me some conditions, she told me I will come back but under one condition, we go take an HIV test. Nikajijaza but honestly that was the most challenging thing to do.
He went on saying;
“Nakumbuka tukiwa pale VCT after kupimwa tukiwa tumegonja zile 15 minutes, nilikua nafungua page ya magazine, nakumbuka Coast, those girls, nakumbuka Kampala, those girls, Arusha, naona siwezi ponea. I am looking at the doctor trying to read his mind, nione kama ako worried ju me nilikua najua nimemess kabisa. The doctor finally brought their results. Nilimharakisha coz nilikua nataka aniambie kama naenda Othaya (his shags) in a coffin.
Sikuamini ati ameniambia niko positive. I asked him like three time. Uko sure nikienda kwingine sitapata different? He said yes I was okay.
“I was sleeping on the couch, for three months because my wife told me not to sleep in her bed for three months mpaka tuende test ya pili. Those three months, I was not peaceful, panic was me. I told God if this this test comes out well, I will change my ways. Fortunately it was confirmed and came out well.
I had slept with so many girls na nikaona, If I continue with the same trend, I would finally die.”
