Dennis Itumbi appeared in court today and was set free on a Sh100,000 cash bail despite the prosecution asking the court to detain the suspect for nine more days.
As a condition for his release, Magistrate Zainab Abdul has asked that his passport be deposited in the court.
While delivering the ruling, the high court judge gave Itumbi four conditions he has to observe while free. They are;
-The blogger was ordered to report to Muthaiga Police Station every two days.
-The judge also made it clear that the suspect could receive his power bank on today but his mobile phone would remain in custody for 14 days.
-He was also asked not to talk about the case on social or mainstream media.
-The matter is set for hearing on July 22.
Itumbi was taken into custody in probe over a letter believed to be fake on an alleged plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto last week.

One of the most interesting tidbits about his court appearance was the book he decided to showcase. It is called ‘When Breath Becomes Air’, which is a non-fiction autobiographical book written by Paul Kalanithi.
It is a memoir about his life and illness, battling stage IV metastatic lung cancer. It was posthumously published by Random House on January 12, 2016.
