Dela Maranga got married last week Wednesday in a civil ceremony that shocked and intrigued many Kenyans. The Afro Neo-Soul singer said ‘I Do’ to her ‘Good Bad Boy’, Dr. Reign.
The wedding was as lowkey as they come, and it was graced by the couple’s immediate families at Sheria House, Nairobi. Why did she choose to do it that way?
It was because she wanted to keep costs down and that she also wanted to keep it as a low-key affair. She spoke to the Star;
Yes, I am finally married to Dr Reign after our private wedding at Sheria House.
Asked why they decided to get married in a civil wedding, Dela explained that she didn’t want the drama that comes with big white weddings, saying;
I think normal weddings have a lot of drama and spending for nothing. I chose something that would make my day special
Dela added that she wanted the day to just be about her and Dr. Reign. She continued;
We did not want to have our friends to spend so much because of our day. It is now official and I am gonna release a song to explain more about our wedding.
The ‘Mama Papa’ singer is also planning a party for her friends. “It is going to be private as well, but it’s soon.”
I salute her decision to want to keep the wedding private. The cost of living is already too high in this country, starting your life with a huge debt right after the wedding is not a smart play.
