De Gea signs new Man Utd deal in U-turn after Real move flops

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea signed a new four-year contract with the Old Trafford club on Friday just a week after coming withing minutes of joining Real Madrid.

The announcement caps a remarkable turn of events after the Spain international was on the verge of joining the Spanish giants last week before the transfer collapsed because of paperwork arriving post the permitted deadline.

United said in a statement released on the club’s official Twitter account: “David de Gea has signed a new four-year contract at #mufc with an option to extend for a further year.”
