DJ Evolve’s hospital bill skyrockets to Ksh 13 million

DJ Evolve, real name Felix Orinda, is recovering well after his third surgery. DJ Shock, who has been keeping in touch with the family, said Evolve is doing well.

Shock said,

“He is still recovering but only his mother is allowed to be close to him, other visitors wave from the outside of the glass,This was after his third surgery so the wound can heal as quickly as possible”

His mother has to wear a mask and apron when she enters his ward.

“It’s not to do with Covid-19. This was the protocol even before it was in the country,” Shock said.

“Yes, the nurses clean the wound every five days, as he now has movement in his arms. Eventually his legs will respond as well. I believe, too, he will make a full recovery.”

However, despite this good news, the family is wary of the growing hospital bill.

Early this month, a High Court judge Luka Kimaru ruled the order to pay the bill could only be issued by a civil court and not a criminal court.

“The accused person should continue paying the hospital bill as a moral duty to him, not as a court order. If he fails to pay, it is up to him and his God,” Kimaru ruled.

The family has reservations if Embakasi MP Babu Owino will help them settle the hospital bill that keeps skyrocketing. Already, it is almost hitting the Sh13 million mark.

I chose to forgive myself-Babu Owino says about DJ Evolve incident

Babu Owino is accused of shooting DJ Evolve in the neck on January 16 at B Club on Galana Road, Kilimani. The case is ongoing.

‘You’ll infect people in ushago’ Kenyans tell citizens fleeing Nairobi

You could unknowingly be taking the virus to people upcountry.

The reason why Italy is the hardest hit is because citizens disregarded instructions from the Government, and traveled countryside leading to a nationwide spread of Coronavirus.

Zari finally gets Maina Kageni’s advise about Diamond Platnumz

Now the same situation could very well end up the same way, according to Classic 105 fans who called in to persuade travelers to rethink their decisions.

The conversation with Maina Kageno on Wednesday was all about Kenyans fleeing the city, to go ushago because they think it’s safer there.

If we travel to mashamani where there is no exposure, we risk taking the disease there, but its difficult to convince Kenyans not to travel, Maina said.

How can Kenyans be convinced not to travel to ushago over coronavirus? asked Maina to which listeners responded with their thoughts below:

Bien Aime had a ‘good’ budget for his wedding to Chiki

A female caller said ‘I think there is something people need to understand those of us in Nairobi will risk if we go ushago, there is less risk in ushago and if we go we take the problem there,’

A man called in and said ‘tunaenda nyumbani ni lazima isemekane hakuna kutoka nje alafu utafanya nini? Watu waende nyumbani, ni kuzuri maisha ni mazuri huko, twende ushago hii maneneo ya corona ikisha turudi’.

Sharon ShanienTwo hearts/…Am staying here,I cant go home, lemme just be mindful.Who knows I might hav the virus or contract it on the way,coz we literally don know who’s +ve despite the 4 known cases. My fam back in shags am not comin! I need them safe

Willis Raburu encourages Willy Paul’s wife to finish him

Kelvin Mwangi..Kenyans got this believe Covid 19 is just around the city only.

Felix Agola(Mr President)..maina now the corona cases have been reported in Nairobi, those who have panicked have sought to travel to shagz where they might be a litte bit safe

Steven Ngugi..Maina if its true there are departures from Nairobi, the gava need to lockdown Nairobi, we can easily contain corona within Nairobi lakini wakiipeleka ushago it shall heat us bad once our foodbasket is affected

@AmozKipchirchir..Good morning Maina, mine is to just caution those pple traveling home from Nairobi & advice them to go self quarantine themselves for 14days. For those we’ll be running the city please let’s always take the outlined precautions.

How to stay fit during quarantine at home

There is a video online of a fitness instructor in Spain, ontop of a building showing simple exercise people quarantined at home can do.

People on the balconies of their homes follow his moves and it’s so inspiring.

In a video shared to Instagram by the fitness group Sano Sevilla Los Bermejales, the trainer can be seen leading people on their balconies in a workout class, with the clip panning to show numerous people doing jumping jacks alongside their neighbours.

Options could include exercise DVDs, dancing, floor exercises, yoga, walking around the compound or using home exercise equipment. Exercise is a proven treatment for stress and depression.

The CDC and the WHO recommend several basic measures to help prevent the spread of Covid-19:

  • Wash your hands often for at least 20 seconds.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Contact a health worker if you have symptoms; fever and a dry cough are most common.
  • DON’T touch your face.
  • DON’T travel if you have a fever and cough.
  • DON’T wear a face mask if you are well.

Kenya’s prettiest pastor Natasha forced to cancel gig after facing backlash

A poster by Pastor Lucy Natasha notifying followers of a prayer meeting amid a global coronavirus outbreak, seemed to have caught the attention of KOT.

Idris Elba tests positive for coronavirus

Idris Elba has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced Monday.

In a video shared to Twitter, Elba said he learned on Friday that he’d been exposed to someone who’d tested positive for the virus.

Bien Aime had a ‘good’ budget for his wedding to Chiki

Although he has not exhibited symptoms, he immediately self-quarantined after learning of the exposure, he added.

This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing

 No panic
Idris Elba
The actor’s wife, Sabrina Dhowre, appeared alongside him in the video, and Elba said that she has not yet been tested and is doing “OK.”

“This is serious. Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it,” he said. “We’ve told our families. They’re very supportive. We’ve told our colleagues. And transparency’s probably the best thing for this right now. If you’re feeling ill, or you feel like you should be tested or you’ve been exposed , then do something about it. It’s really important.”

Can eating garlic help prevent coronavirus? Debunking common myths about the virus

The first case of coronavirus in Kenya was confirmed yesterday by the Health Ministry. After the announcement, the country suffered some paranoia and panic among some of the citizenry.

There are some myths about the virus that are doing the rounds at the moment. This article will address those myths and separate truth from lies.

These are some of the myths that the World Heath Organization (WHO) is seeking to debunk about the novel coronavirus:

1. Are antibiotics effective in preventing and treating the new coronavirus?

No, antibiotics do not work against viruses, only bacteria.

The new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) is a virus and, therefore, antibiotics should not be used as a means of prevention or treatment.

However, if you are hospitalized for the 2019-nCoV, you may receive antibiotics because bacterial co-infection is possible.

2. Does the new coronavirus affect older people, or are younger people also susceptible?

People of all ages can be infected by the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Older people, and people with pre-existing medical conditions (such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease) appear to be more vulnerable to becoming severely ill with the virus.

3. Coronavirus: Is there a ‘right’ way to wash my hands?

WHO advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus, for example by following good hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene.

4. Do vaccines against pneumonia protect you against the new coronavirus?

No. Vaccines against pneumonia, such as pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) vaccine, do not provide protection against the new coronavirus.

The virus is so new and different that it needs its own vaccine. Researchers are trying to develop a vaccine against 2019-nCoV, and WHO is supporting their efforts.

Although these vaccines are not effective against 2019-nCoV, vaccination against respiratory illnesses is highly recommended to protect your health.

5. Can spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body kill the new coronavirus?

No. Spraying alcohol or chlorine all over your body will not kill viruses that have already entered your body.

Spraying such substances can be harmful to clothes or mucous membranes (i.e. eyes, mouth).

Be aware that both alcohol and chlorine can be useful to disinfect surfaces, but they need to be used under appropriate recommendations.

6. How effective are thermal scanners in detecting people infected with the new coronavirus?

Thermal scanners are effective in detecting people who have developed a fever (i.e. have a higher than normal body temperature) because of infection with the new coronavirus.

However, they cannot detect people who are infected but are not yet sick with fever. This is because it takes between 2 and 10 days before people who are infected become sick and develop a fever.

7. Are there any specific medicines to prevent or treat the new coronavirus?

To date, there is no specific medicine recommended to prevent or treat the new coronavirus (2019-nCoV). However, those infected with the virus should receive appropriate care to relieve and treat symptoms, and those with severe illness should receive optimized supportive care.

Some specific treatments are under investigation, and will be tested through clinical trials.

8. Can eating garlic help prevent infection with the new coronavirus?

Garlic is a healthy food that may have some antimicrobial properties. However, there is no evidence from the current outbreak that eating garlic has protected people from the new coronavirus.

9. COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in areas with hot and humid climates

From the evidence so far, the COVID-19 virus can be transmitted in ALL AREAS, including areas with hot and humid weather. Regardless of climate, adopt protective measures if you live in, or travel to an area reporting COVID-19.

The best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is by frequently cleaning your hands.

By doing this you eliminate viruses that may be on your hands and avoid infection that could occur by then touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.

10. Can cold weather kill the new coronavirus?

There is no reason to believe that cold weather can kill the new coronavirus or other diseases. The normal human body temperature remains around 36.5°C to 37°C, regardless of the external temperature or weather.

The most effective way to protect yourself against the new coronavirus is by frequently cleaning your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or washing them with soap and water.

11. Can taking a hot bath prevent the new coronavirus disease?

Taking a hot bath will not prevent you from catching COVID-19. Your normal body temperature remains around 36.5°C to 37°C, regardless of the temperature of your bath or shower.

Actually, taking a hot bath with extremely hot water can be harmful, as it can burn you.

The best way to protect yourself against COVID-19 is by frequently cleaning your hands.

By doing this you eliminate viruses that may be on your hands and avoid infection that coud occur by then touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.

I have never been single, I can’t live without cassava – Huddah screams

Huddah Monroe is one of the most controversial women Kenya has ever seen. The socialite doesn’t mind ruffling feathers with her often eyebrow-raising takes in a Kenyan society that heralds itself for its “conservatism”.

What is she up to now? The socialite has revealed the interesting tidbit that she has never been single after a fan sought to know whether she was and why.

Huddah Monroe in white
Huddah Monroe in white

Miss Monroe had asked her fans and followers what they would ask her if they met her on the street, saying that for her, she would only stare at herself. “If you met me for the 1st time what would you ask me? I’d just stare at myself to be honest 🤣,” she wrote.

I’d abort that child! Huddah says about having a broke man’s child

This prompted the question of whether she was single and if yes, then why. “hahaah! Babe I am not single. Never been single. I can’t live without d!*k in my life,” said Huddah.

Huddah chilling

Another follower called Kinyanjui threw shade at the socialite saying that she was broke, “Make sure you get laid. Brokenness is real for you”

Huddah responded saying that brokenness will befall him (Kinyanjui) who was wishing brokenness upon her. Manze, Huddah seems to be one of the few women who it’s “raining men for”, as I can swear many (much more than last year!) ladies were very single this past Valentine’s.

Huddah Monroe doing the duck face

I think Huddah should start a course on where to get these men and how to keep them? Oddly enough I have never seen the secretive socialite with a lover.

Mama Nate as she calls herself now narrated hows she had taken all manner of tests to check whether her tubes were blocked and if her eggs were viable and nothing showed.

“There is a lot of vagueness in the whole process if you don’t get information from an actual expert. I did all tests that were recommended checking whether all my tubes were blocked or if the eggs were viable and nothing came up. We were simply told to keep trying,” said Kambua.

This made her start looking for alternative options in order to conceive and had even been introduced to a specialist. But in late 2018, she started showing symptoms she could not explain.

There was already pressure to have children 2 years into our marriage! Kambua

Kambua had by this time stopped tracking down her ovulation days for the emotional drain that it caused her. She decided to test if she was pregnant, with the test coming back positive.

Kambua smiling

“One day after the Rauka show, still feeling a little under the weather, I started thinking of the possibility of being pregnant because I had stopped keeping track of my ovulation days a few months earlier as it had gotten to a point where I had become so obsessed and it was emotionally draining. I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take a test,” added Kambua.

‘We inject girls with water in River Road’ unlicensed doctor confesses

There is an uptake of illegal bu**ock and br*ast injections being conducted along River Road to please men.

One woman admitted on Classic 105, to administering the backdoor injections on gullible girls, that ‘unapigwa shindano ukiwa ndani ya stall’.

According to this woman,

You are injected inside our stalls. Someone is called and wears a Doctors coat (fake doctor) pretending they are a real doctor, then they inject the girl with an injection.

She added that

It’s plain water, not the chemicals that should be used. There are those who collapse in our stalls when we inject them, haifanyangi kazi ni maji plain

Kenyan women, are constantly body shamed being told that we’re not quite good enough as is. And because of that we have bought into cosmetic procures to change nature: from body shapers to Malaysian weave hair to get there.

A man even confessed that indeed men do pressure women to take drastic action to enhance their body. He told Maina that

I would blame men, every man wants a girl with but*ocks, so men are the cause of all these problems

Emirates cancels flights after first case of coronavirus confirmed in South Africa

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has warned that the coronavirus will turn into a “national crisis” and its impact will be “huge”.

His warning came after the first case of the coronavirus was detected in South Africa.

Cyril_Ramaphosa

The patient is a 38-year-old man who visited Italy with his wife.

This brings to 27 the number of coronavirus cases reported in Africa. Algeria is worst-affected, with 17 cases, 16 of them in the same family.

The South African couple, who have two children, were part of a group of 10 who returned from Italy on 1 March, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said.

The man and the doctor who first treated him were both in self-isolation in the eastern KwaZulu-Natal province, he added.

A tracer team had been sent to KwaZulu-Natal to identify people who might have been in contact with the man and the doctor, Dr Mkhize said.

‘Is this nation even ready?’ Kenyans react to Coronavirus threat

Mr Ramaphosa urged South Africans not to panic and to get immediate medical help if they showed symptoms of Covid-19.

“It will have a huge impact on a number of things… travel… our economy. It is already showing signs of a negative impact on tourism.

“The effect will be big. South Africans will need to be prepared,” he was quoted by privately owned Eyewitness News as saying.

Emirates has now cancelled flights to and fro the country as a result of the news.
