Here are 5 things you didn’t know about Unajua songstress Wendy Kimani

Wendy Kimani is not a new face in the Kenyan music industry even though she relocated to Holland to be with her husband Marvin and son Taji,

She rose to fame during Tusker Project Fame and after that collabo’s with singers such as former Israeli Ambassador to Kenya, Gillad. Since then she has been pretty low key. I sat down for an interview with the singer and sought to find out a few things about her that you might not know. read through;

1. She loves going out for desserts

We all have a sweet tooth, but Wendy admits hers can only be tamed by a good dessert. The singer confesses there are days she and the hubby just go to a hotel only to eat desserts which at times leaves waiters in awe.

2. She loves and misses Kenyan made sausages

As we all know there is no better place than being at home. Being in a far away country is a good experience for Wendy but it makes her miss Kenyan sausages and fries from a kibandaski.

3. She is a movie addict

The talented queen of melanin admits that she loves movies ranging from series’ to superhero movies, which she does not mind watching with her husband, adding that after all no man is an island.

4. She has a you tube channel

What many might not know is that Wendy has a youtube channel dubbed Wendy’s New Normal, that she uses to show people about life in the diaspora,  maintaining natural hair, the weather, motherhood and all the stuff people would love to know.

5. She rocks natural hair

Yeah you got that right. Wendy is among the few people who proudly rock their natural hair while most of you are buying wigs and weaves to hide your heads. In her youtube channel, she educates her fans on how to do the same for their hair.

It has been a pretty minute since we heard anything from the queen of Ugandan music, Juliana Kanyomozi. She is loved by many and revered for her mastery in music. She has caused quite the buzz online, this time not for her music but purely for her looks.

She posted new promo photos, it is not clear if it is for a music projects or just a photo shoot she did.

Juliana Kanyomozi speaks about toughest time of her life

Here are some of the reactions to the photos by her online fans.

Brenda Kayiwa But they said your pregnant, is it true or it was just lugambo

Atiiku Shiraj Juliana, you are a musician and not a singer and because of that, your exposure is beyond hills and valleys. I don’t want to say anything about your riches and love life, this will be trampling on one’s life. I will not praise your beauty because it is obvious. My only appeal to you as a woman with influence is to help out the girl child. Many girls go out of school due to reasons that are avoidable: early marriage, rape, defilement , pads and many more. What are you doing about it? Lead all women artists to organise a concert and invite all women in leadership to raise funds for this unprivileged girls. Let no man get involved in this.

Musinguzi Gibson Juliana you are quite don’t become a legend please we are missing you in the industry you still have powers don’t let up coming to sit on you ,you were always the best

Arsenal Betting Mistake Makes Nandi Man Sh423,693 Richer with Odibets

Arsenal Betting error sees Nandi Man win thousands on Odibets with only Sh49

While most mistakes in life prove costly, that was not the case for one Julius Kipkemboi, who hails from Kipkaren catchment, Nandi County.

Kipkemboi, predicted 19 games correctly on Odibets to win Ksh 423,693 with only Ksh 49, a victory propelled by a mistake he accidentally committed while placing his bet.

He had initially planned to bet on an Arsenal win as they played Watford on Sunday, however, his luck struck as he mistakenly picked Arsenal women, who were playing against Manchester United in the FA Women’s Super League, with the former winning.

Had Kipkemboi placed Arsenal men, he would have lost the bet as the Gunners were held by Watford after a shambolic defensive display. This was one of the games that cost many punters their bets.

“I picked my betting strategy from my father who’s been betting on sports for over 40 years,” said the elated 37-year-old who is a hotelier.

Kipkemboi spoke in the presence of his father, who accompanied his son as he collected his dues from the betting firm.

“So many leagues are back after the International Break and our customers will be spoilt for choice on the offers they can enjoy from Odibets whether it’s the EPL, Champions League, or Serie A,” stated Daniel Macharia, Odibets lead bookmaker.

Mr Macharia added, “We have a 10% boost on wins which boosts our customers’ wins – in Kipkemboi’s case, his boost was around Ksh 40,000.

Odibets is one of the fastests betting websites in Kenya offering boosted odds, 100’s of markets and thousands of live betting events.

Why Huddah Monroe may stop giving us major travel goals for a GOOD REASON

Who doesn’t like traveling?

Hop onto a plane and head over to your chosen destination either for holiday or business.

Huddah Monroe never lacks anything to say on her social media platforms. This time around, the lass is tired of traveling. You heard that right. The wealth acquired from multiple businesses she claims to own, have enabled the socialite to travel across the Globe.

Why would a socialite known for her jet setting life, now want to quit  travelling?

Huddah puts it down to age, and wanting to accomplish other things too.

She may need a representative, she wrote.

OdiBets introduces new multibet bonus feature

The new feature is open to the Betting firm’s customers and entails increasing ones odds after they have placed their bets.

The multi-bet bonus is applied on multi-bets of 5+ (five or more) matches and the minimum odd per selection should be 1.5 noting the maximum stake is Sh20, 000.

Only your first multiple bet of 5+ selections [pre kick off] settled on any given day will count as a qualifying bet.

If any of the matches selected as part of your qualifying multi-bet bonus are abandoned or postponed, leaving you with less than five matches, the bet will be resulted without the multi-bet bonus.

To mark the first international break after the return of the Premier League four weeks ago, Odibets debuted a viral feature that entailed bettors being able to delete undesirable bet history from their accounts.

“Losses hurt,” said Odibets lead bookmaker, Daniel Macharia.

“The feature will help bettors delete bet history and start all over again,” said Daniel Macharia when the company hosted journalists during the launch of the delete bet feature.

Robert Mugabe was known to many as a dictator but not many knew the tough life he had to keep up with before he became president.

Around the time of the second child’s death aged 10, his father abandoned the family in 1934.

3.Lost his only sister Bridget

Mugabe lost his only sister in 2014 after almost four years in a coma.

2 Destinations you need to travel to in Africa

Africa is one of the best travel destinations in the world. Here, you can enjoy crystal blue beaches, majestic wildlife, and a wealth of culture and history.

Before, you start planning trips to Europe and America, have you traveled to at least five countries in Africa? Or even the neighbouring East African countries?

Most people shun from wanting to travel to destinations that are close by not understanding how Africa as a continent has so much to offer and how the different people have a rich culture one can learn.

Take it up to yourself and friends to save up and experience what Africa has to offer. Let us be the kind that promotes our own other than waiting for westerners to take it up on themselves.

This article, will look at two places you ought to travel to in the continent without much straining.

  1. Rwanda

First of all, if you are in an East African country then travelling to Rwanda would be Visa free for you. Those visiting Rwanda will only need to obtain a visitor’s pass on arrival, which is valid for 6 months. There is no visa fee payable for this pass, and you can renew it at any point of entry. Do not feel pressured if you can not afford a flight from Kenya, this is because buses too can be used as a means of travel. It may be much longer and tiring but I believe the experience is worth it all.

Tourist destinations in the city

  • Genocide Memorial

Since the dark days of the genocide, Kigali has been able to take a U-turn and the city is bursting with greatness. In the city you can find scented spices and various bustling markets around the city. The Genocide memorial is one of the city’s biggest tourist attraction and very many tourists put it in their itinerary.

  • Volcanos National Park

Around the craggy volcanic peaks, visitors discover lush montane forests and thick groves of African redwoods. As you tour the lush forests you may discover the rare uber-rare mountain gorillas.

  • Kibuye

Kibuye jets into the blue-brown waters of lake Kivu in a series of headlands and sided bays. Also there are boats available for tours around the lake.

  • Akagera National Park

The national park, is the same Savannah you’d expect in the East African Rift. Gives rise to free roaming giraffes, antelopes and many more. If you are a bird watcher, then this is the place for you, with beautiful meanders of River Kagera shimmers through.

2. Namibia

Travel in Namibia is truly unlike travel anywhere else on earth. Known as the land of endless horizons, the vast distances and epic landscapes of this country will leave you feeling both insanely small and insignificant, and carefree and in absolute awe at every turn. It’s epic in every single way, and a visit here is well worth it.

Did I mention it’s visa free as well?

It may be vast, and distances may be long, but Namibia has an awful lot you absolutely must see. Places MUST visit: Sossusvlei, Fish River Canyon and Kolmanskop are must visit destinations to the south, while the unique and wild coastlines of Swakopmund, Walvis Bay and the Skeleton Coast simply cannot be missed.

Tourist destinations must visit,

  • Sossusvlei

Sossusvlei is the endless sea of rust-red dunes, the bleached white pan and its gnarled ancient trees. I believe, a visit to Namibia is incomplete without making the long trek into Sossusvlei, climbing Big Daddy and sitting atop the world’s tallest dune looking out over a sea of equally big dunes disappearing into the western horizon.

  • Skeleton Coast

Dunes meet sea at the Skeleton Coast and there is a lot to see and do here that makes Swakopmund an ideal break to the vast distance between Sossusvlei and Etosha.  Take, Desert tours, sea kayaking and scenic flights are complimented by a host of adventure activities including quad biking, paragliding, sandboarding and skydiving.

  • Fish River Canyon

Whichever way you measure it, the Fish River Canyon is enormous. Poised on the edge your view is of a vast flat land incised by rivers flowing for millennia.

  • Kaokoland

Enormous, virtually impassable mountain ranges, all the desert-adapted wildlife of Damaraland to the south and mile upon square mile of uninhabited, scenic splendour. Kaokoland is where the fascinating Himba people live – off the land in harmony with nature.

How to travel in Kenya on a budget and tight schedule

Best suited to adventurous self-drive 4×4 camping adventures with more than one vehicle, Kaokoland is quite likely on everybody’s second-visit bucket list. And a second visit you will want after skimming the surface of this ancient and beautiful country.

Check out Raila Odinga’s palatial mansion in Bondo (Photos)

President Uhuru Kenyatta was hosted for breakfast at ODM leader Raila Odinga’s home in Bondo on Friday. Uhuru arrived in Kisumu on Thursday where he was given a hero’s welcome. He is on a two-day working tour of Nyanza.

Tycoon businessman Jimi Wanjigi attended the breakfast meeting. He went bearing gifts, which he presented to the hostess – Ida Odinga.

President Uhuru started his tour by launching the Universal Health Care pilot in Kisumu. UHC will be piloted in four counties: Kisumu, Nyeri, Machakos and Isiolo.

After the breakfast at Raila’s home, Uhuru is expected to preside over the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology graduation. The university will confer honorary degrees on the President and Raila.

Five years ago, it was reported that the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was putting up a Sh1 billion hill-side palatial residence in Riat Kisumu.

The home is crested in Kanyakwar, Riat Hills overlooking Kisumu International Airport. It affords the former PM a near-aerial view of Kisumu City, the base of his political power.

“At some point, the PM was under pressure from family members to convert it into a hotel facility but he stuck his ground on the home idea. His will has prevailed to date,” a source close to Raila said yesterday.

The residence has close to 10 bedrooms- including Raila’s master bedroom all upstairs. It has four expansive kitchens, two main conference rooms, two small conference rooms and many offices.

The main contractor is said to be a foreigner who subcontracted local contractors. Currently, the contractor is doing final touches on the facility and at the same time doing landscaping outside.

Other sources said the construction is behind schedule as it was intended to be finished last year.

The political icon also has another home in the leafy suburbs of Karen.

How to travel in Kenya on a budget and tight schedule

Kenya is an amazing country to travel to.

It has so much more to offer than just going on a safari. Nevertheless, many travelers have the idea that Kenya is somewhat like the  Lion King, consisting of vast Savannah plains with amazing wildlife that you are only going to visit if you want to do a safari. And safaris in Kenya are not cheap, so many people don’t even consider it as an option.

In this article I will show you that traveling to Kenya on a budget is possible and that this country has way more to offer than safaris only.

Hugely diverse, from mountain lakes and world-class national parks to stunning coastline, Kenya is the perfect country if you want to feel like you’ve seen a lot of East Africa in just a couple of weeks.

It’s also one of the best countries if you’ve got small pockets like me and want to still tick some amazing sights and animals off your bucket list.

And did I mention the people are some of the friendliest in the world too?

Nairobi city is not like Paris or Italy where a guide book and a good pair of walking shoes are sufficient to have a great experience of the city. In Nairobi you need a bit more guidance what to see and do. Of course, you can check TripAdvisor for the best things to do in Nairobi, but in my opinion you will only scratch the surface and don’t get a true feel of the city or the Kenyan culture.

Travel – Things you do not need to pack when travelling

Places you can visit on a budget on your stay in Kenya;

  • Lake Naivasha and Hell’s Gate National Park

Image result for hell's gate kenya

Naivasha is just 2 hours away from Nairobi. Situated in the gorgeous rift valley area, this beautiful lake is 1,884m above sea level and the perfect place to take a sunset cruise.

With hippo spotting and great bird-watching possibilities, these evening trips are breathtaking for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.

I strongly suggest taking a tour to the nearby Hells Gate National Parkwhich can easily be organised by most accommodation providers at the lake.

The fascinating geothermal landscape of this beautiful reserve is stunning with towering sandstone cliffs and deep gorges.

But the best thing about Hells Gate National Park however is the fact you can easily explore it on 2 wheels and 2 feet! Did I happen to mention that Tomb Raider the movie was shot here? A matter of fact it was!

Cycling and hiking through Hells Gate National Park is unlike any other safari you’re likely to experience as you can get seriously up close and personal with warthogs, giraffes, zebras and more!

  • Masai Mara

Image result for masai mara

The Masai Mara is one of the best-known reserves in the whole of Africa. It is globally renowned for its exceptional wildlife. The Maasai Mara lies in the Great Rift Valley, which is a fault line some 3,500 miles (5,600km) long stretching from Ethiopia’s Red Sea through Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, and into Mozambique. Here the valley is wide, and a towering escarpment can be seen in the hazy distance.

The Mara is perhaps best known for the Great Migration, which takes place every year July to September. During these months the yellow Savannah is dotted black by more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra and antelopes that migrate from the Serengeti to the Mara in search of food and water.

Mara and Serengeti parks are interdependent wildlife havens. This is where the world’s largest multi-species migration takes place. The movement is, centered around the wildebeest migrating from Serengeti into Masai Mara during the dry period in Tanzania, crossing the mighty Mara River on their way.

With that said, your best budget may actually be to join a prearranged tour to the Masai Mara in Nairobi and keep costs low by teaming up with others.

  • Lamu

Image result for lamu

Once you’ve jetted into the country and fixed your itinerary, it’s time to head to Kenya’s coast to grasp the diversity of this dazzling country.

First port of call is the incredible city of Lamu, situated right in the north of the country. Travelling here by road isn’t recommended so the best option for safety, time and possibly your budget too, is to hop on a cheap flight from Nairobi direct to Lamu.

Budget airlines include, FLY540, Safarilink, Skyward Express and Silver-stone Air.

From thin winding streets to beautifully carved doorways, this is the sort of destination where the essence of the place is more a reason to visit that any listed tourist attractions. Mode of transport in Lamu is donkeys and rafts.

It goes without saying, many people describe Lamu as the highlight of their Kenya itinerary.

  • Kilifi

Image result for kilifi

From Lamu, hop on a short, cheap flight to Malindi, which sits further south on Kenya’s Coast and then head on a matatu or private transport to the town of Kilifi.

This gorgeous, relaxed spot has a friendly local community and an arty-alternative crowd of expats that tend to orbit around Distant Relatives backpackers. If you looking for a New Years plan, then Kilifi is the ideal place for you. It is very pocket friendly and hippies can be themselves and free. I really love this place due to its relaxed vibe and amazing people you will meet.

Set on the banks of a creek, there’s tons to do in Kilifi including day trips to the coastal resort of Watamu, visiting local markets, swimming in the nightly bio luminescence and enjoying sunset dhow rides.

When planning a short trip around Kenya do not miss out on some of these magical places.

Ian Nene, former Machachari actor known as Almasi has addressed the sensitive topic of his se3uality.

He has on different occasions been called gay for his daring dressing.

His fashion statements is something many Kenyans have a problem with.

Speaking about the topic during an interactive session with his fans on Instagram, Ian was asked by a fan what his opinion on se3uality is and here is his response.

My personal opinion is as long as you are not harming anyone and as long as you are doing your own thing.

You are expressing yourself in proper, clean fashion then all is good.

I don’t like being put in a box and boxes don’t work for me. The only thing I can say about myself is that I am a servant of the people.

That is how I associate with others and that’s how I live my everyday life and that is how I try to build relationships.

In conclusion he says

I am not just out here to please myself.

This  is because I have learnt that its also temporary and that you can try so hard to please yourself in that kind of passion but it leads you nowhere.

Surveillance intensified over suspected case of Ebola in Kericho

The Kenyan Government is on high alert after a suspected case of Ebola in Kericho.

On Sunday evening, a patient with symptoms similar to those exhibited by Ebola patients was admitted at the Kericho County Referral Hospital.

The County  Disease Surveillance Team immediately took over the matter and took the necessary precautions to ensure that there was minimal contact between the patient and other persons at the hospital including the staff and the other hospital users.

According to a statement from the county’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Timothy Kemei, the County Department of Health Services is monitoring this potential case very closely and is working with the National Government to ensure that all essential procedures are followed to protect public health and safety.

“The patient has been placed in isolation and blood samples sent to the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in Nairobi for further analysis. The preliminary test results are expected to be ready within the next 12 to 24 hours,” Kemei said.

The County Government has however appealed for calm and assured the public that the County Referral Hospital is capable and well equipped to ensure the proper isolation of the patient and protection of other hospital users.

“It is important to note that the symptoms that have been exhibited by the patient can be indicative of any other medical condition and so there is no confirmed case of Ebola in Kericho at the moment,” the statement said.

The past few weeks have seen health officials in Busia and Malaba border towns kept on extra alert following the Ebola outbreak in neighbouring Uganda.
