Former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru on Wednesday decamped to TNA from the ODM party and announced that she will contest the Nairobi governor seat on the party’s ticket.
The move will arguably change Nairobi’s political landscape given that other leading politicians in the TNA fold in Nairobi including Starehe MP Maina Kamanda and Senator Mike Sonko are eying the same seat on the same party’s ticket.
Wanjiru is the first senior politician in Nairobi to ditch ODM for its rival party. Speaking after she was received by TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo and Executive Director Joseph Mathai respectively, she accused Kidero of spending millions of shillings meant for Nairobi’s development on harambees in Nyanza.
“Today we send a clear message to non-performing Nairobi governor; you will earn a salary every month despite the fact that you do not deliver services to Nairobians. Mr. Governor are more concerned about developing Nyanza than Nairobi where we elected you,” she said.
