Anjlee Gadhvi passed away this past week. The much-loved and admired K24 anchor left Kenyans with many memories. One of those was her touching message to the late Janet Kanene Ikua.
Janet for those of you who can’t remember was also a former K24 presenter who died from liver cancer back in 2017. In the YouTube video doing the rounds, a lively Anjlee is seen paying tribute to Janet.
“Dear Janet, it has been a while since we spoke. You have been quiet, a bit too quiet. I wish I knew what was running through your mind. Today I heard you left and I do not know how to reach you,” Anjlee narrated in a lovely poem.
“I made broccoli soup the day before yesterday and you crossed my mind and I smiled at the thought that you once mentioned that you loved broccoli.” Anjlee added.
She then went on to ask the late Janet whether she had finished her 28-day juicing diet and then reminisced about a poem that Janet had shared with Mrs. Gadhvi.
The rest of the video is just as poignant with the depth of emotion palpable for the viewer. Watch the powerful tribute below;
Anjlee and Janet both braved the trying waters and hardships of the disease side by side. Two years after Janet’s death, Anjlee is no more and all her fans could do was cry desperately as they said goodbye on the comment section.
Many Kenyans decried the loss of such powerhouses to the same disease in such a short time. Anjlee died on Friday, January 10. She struggled with the disease for six difficult years and fought till the end.
