Don’t lower your standards! Why Akothee’s mantra for life has worked so well for her

Akothee is one of the most remarkable women in Kenya. The singer, philanthropist, businesswoman, and social influencer have come from far.

One of her posts this week reminds us of this fact. The president of the single mothers club as she calls herself posted an image of herself while expectant with one of her sons while she was living in France.

The 40-year-old informed her fans that at the time she had already developed a taste for expensive clothes and that she wouldn’t wear anything less than KSh 20,000 at the time.

Sponsors can pay for things in your life but will never make you rich – Akothee warns

She advised her fans that they should never lower their standards and stand their ground even when pregnant adding thatΒ she could not see herself carrying a child for a man who could not move heaven and earth for her.

While I don’t agree fully with her not lowering her standards comment (as life is full of nuance and compromise), her worldview has worked out well for her. I will use her past relationships to briefly elucidate this point.

The mother of 5 has seen a lot, splitting with her first husband when they had had 3 daughters together. She left the marital home because of some problems with her then-husband Jared-Don’t lower your standards.

She would later come back for her kids and move on with a white ex-pat who would become the father of her first son. But things didn’t also go well for her and she also left him-Don’t lower your standards.

She then moved on to another white man who would become the father of her 2nd son who she also left-Don’t lower your standards.

All in all, despite her many baby daddies, the long-legged singer has shown that her decisions were smart as she is now one of the wealthiest single women in Kenya.

This proves that her mantra works admirably well for her.
